Client's Lessons and Downloads
A new
and unique DorWey feature is the Client's
Lessons and Downloads section. This has been launched quite recently but
already it contains a large amount of helpful information. Pages will be added over the coming weeks
and all clients are encouraged to look at the lessons and diagrams. To access this part of the site please click
on the info
link.
|
If clients do
take the time to look at and study the information posted on this
section of the DorWey web site their driving course should be
shorter, easier and less expensive - with the
driving licence as the ultimate reward! |

COMPETITIVE PRICES:
Why we don't charge as much as larger driving schools.
-
By being an independent driving school, prices can be kept
low. Our customers pay for the hire of the car and the instructor. Our customers
don’t pay for expensive management, office staff, national
advertising budgets, buildings and shareholders.
-
The area DorWey Driving School covers is restricted to Dorchester, Weymouth and the immediate
surrounding areas. This means that instructor time is used efficiently and vehicle running costs
are kept down. This significant saving is passed on to the customers.
-
If customers follow our recommendations
and have lessons of one and half hours, instead of one hour, the travelling
times/costs between lessons are reduced and this saving is also passed onto the
customer. Incidentally, the one and half hour lesson is far more efficient.
The
pupil will reach test standard sooner - again saving the customer money!
We are confident of our product. To

QUALITY INSTRUCTION:
A local driving school can only survive
by giving good value and maintaining high standards.
CV.
Please read the CV for the driving instructor's qualifications and practical experience.
No
Trainee Driving Instructors.
Unlike some, including well known
national driving schools, there are no trainee driving instructors giving lessons at DorWey.
 Client's Lessons and Downloads Area
Unique
dedicated DorWey web pages enabling
clients to access lesson material to use and study at leisure and in the comfort
of their home. This should lead to a more rapid grasp and a more in-depth
knowledge of the subject. If this material is used on a regular basis it
should result in a shorter course and a safer driver.
A
Policy of a Maximum
of 30 Lesson-hours. Trying to cram too many lessons into the working
week can result in late or
cancelled appointments. It can also lead to "burn-out" where a stressed
instructor is dashing from one lesson to another and working flat-out for far
too many hours. Also, with fewer pupils, it is much easier to get
to know and take a real interest in them as individuals and keep track of their
progress.
Mock
Driving Test. Before the Driving Test, if time permits, at least one
mock driving test will be given during the final lessons. This will not
only allow the pupil to experience driving under test conditions but will also
highlight any lingering problems
Graphic Briefings
are used as an aid to instruction. They are a unique teaching aid, using many
computer-generated illustrations to get the points across quickly and easily.
This means less time spent on theory and more time spent on practice. (Click on
'Graphic Briefings' for further information.)
DorWey Training Modules
are designed to be used with and complement Graphic Briefings. (Click on
'DorWey Training Modules' for further information.)
A 30
page, laminated logbook A record of the client's weekly progress
is essential. This
logbook gives clear information about the pupil's progress and
due notification of when they are approaching test standard. At the end of each
lesson the client, with help from the instructor, will fill out the comments
pages in the log book. The instructor also writes a duplicate report for the
driving school. This means that the client and instructor are aware of improvements and
of any persistent problems.
The instructor will also use these notes to prepare the lesson plan for the
following session. The logbook also contains a
thumbnail sketch of each lesson subject, enabling the student to recap
during the periods between lessons. The logbooks cost £5.
The
driving school car is a 2006 model Toyota
Yaris. The Yaris has always been considered an ideal driving school car with a
reputation for safety, comfort, reliability and being an easy car to drive. The
new model continues to deliver on all these qualities.
